Google going mobile

This report indicates that some technologists dont believe that this will come to anything. I however see no reason why Google cant break into themobile market and offer leading mobile phone and more to the point mobile applications. Who knows what this could entail but perhaps a gps version of Google Maps (that would be awesome!) for example?
